Hiawatha Water Trail and Lake Superior
The Hiawatha Water Trail (HWT) traverses from Big Bay to Grand Marais on the southern shore of Lake Superior. The 120-mile long trail follows the shoreline that was once paddled by Native Americans and early European explorers. The water trail passes by the towns of Marquette, Munising, Grand Marais and some of the most beautiful places in the Midwest, including the famous Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, the Grand Island National Recreation Area, and the Hiawatha National Forest.
